Just a little snippit of a story I'm writing. Enjoy.

It was just a dream, right? Life never really happened like one dreamed it to, not even in the humid warmth of a tropical paradise. Kalli was crouched behind a few bushes and low-hanging branches of trees. She grumbled and shifted in the soft sandy dirt that seemed to be attempting to swallow her whole. From her vantage point she could see her boss, John Maxford, and his new client Simon Wald. They seemed to be gesturing angrily and Kalli felt a stab of nosiness as she adjusted her ear piece. She couldn't hear them. She was never left out of conversations like this, especially not with new clients. She wondered if John had realized that she had lost signal. Shifting again in the sand she tried to read their lips as they spoke, but the argument had become heated and they were talking too fast.
Shaking her head she retreated to her car. The outwardly normal black ford focus had been altered internally to be the perfect survelliance automobile. It had an array of live satellite feeds, and a wireless internet connection that was virtually untraceable due to it's mobile nature. She slid into the drivers' seat and flipped a couple of switches on the dash. The radio panel swiveled out of the way and a collapsable keyboard shot out from where the cds should have been inserted. She unfolded it and punched in a few commands. Suddenly the bud in her ear sprang to life, and she gasped from the electrofeedback the pierced her ear for a second before the conversation filled her ear.
"Look Maxford," Simon was speaking angrily. "I don't have time to argue with someone like you, either you come through or you don't- but for your sake I hope you make it work out. I'd hate to have to kill you."
A car door, then a starting engine. "Did you get that Kal?" it was John's soft voice now.
"I lost feed for about 10 minutes, but I heard the threat. What's going on?"
"Tell you later," she heard him start walking and looked toward the line of trees. He appeared with a smile in his dark beauty, as if nothing had happened just now. He certainly didn't look as if someone had just threatened his life. It made Kalli's heart skip beats and she shook her head as he got in the car. "Lets get the hell out of here."
She nodded and started the engine. Today had been a long day, she'd be more than happy to get home and in bed where she wouldn't have to worry endlessly about everyone else's safety or health.

Yup. I'm bored.
